The Riviera Maya is a spectacular area in Mexico known for its cool Mayan ruins, beautiful underground caves and rivers (called cenotes), endless beaches, and top notch hotels. The Rivera Maya, for a beach- and adventure-lovers, is one of the best places to get married in Mexico. The most famous destinations in the Rivera Maya are Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum. It's just more than 100km long. To get married in the Rivera Maya, you'll need to be there 3 days before your legal ceremony (which must take place in a judge's office - but even that is worth photographing!). Later on you can have a spiritual or religious ceremony. The legal requirements include a blood test.

Traveling to a Rivera Maya wedding

If you want to get married in Riviera Maya, you can get there pretty easily. Most folks just fly into the CAncun International Airport or the newly built Tulum terminal. From there you can rent a car or take a van to whereever your final destination may be. If you're getting married on Cozumel, you can fly direct there, or take a ferry across from the mainland.
