Weddings in Cozumel
You can't beat a wedding in Cozumel, known also by its Mayan name, The Island of the Swallows. The island, just off the coast of Mexico's Riviera Maya, is popular with scuba divers and snorkelers due to its world famous clear water and abundant dive sites. If you are planning a wedding and are interested in diving, underwater photography, or a Trash the Dress photo session, Cozumel should be on your short list. It's got some awesome beach resorts and restuarants, and has a fantastic Carnival in February and the Festival of El Cedral in April. After photographing destination weddings on Cozumel, we have ranked the island as high on the list of the best places to have a wedding. It's easy to get to, off the beaten path, has awesome scuba diving, clear water, empty beaches, and some interesting Mayan ruins to explore. It's a similar but quieter version of Playa del Carmen or Cancun.
Cozumel has its own international airport, as well as a busy ferry terminal that gives quick access to Playa del Carmen, about 20 km away on the mainland. Getting your wedding guests in and out of Cozumel is super easy. It is in the hurricane belt, so be cognizant of when you plan your wedding - it's best to get married in the Yucatan from December to May, as temps rise in the summer and the rains and hurricanes come in the fall.
