Jamaica weddings

We are happy make a number of recommendations about planning your wedding in Kingston, Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, Morant Bay, Black River, Falmouth, or the other areas on the island. Jamaica weddings are incredibly varied: you can get married on competely deserted beaches like Treasure Beach (stay at Jake's Hotel!) or you can stay somewhere with great surf, like Boston Bay Beach in Port Antonio. There are beautiful forests, huge cliffs for cliff diving, ample hiking, and fantastic scuba diving. And, of course, there's the world-famous Jamaican vibe and awesome food.

It's super easy to travel to Jamaica, since it's one of the most developed islands in the Caribbean. The biggest international airports are in Kingston (code KIN) and Montego Bay (MBJ).

As far as wedding requirements go for your big day in Jamaica, here are some. The cost for a marriage license is about $80 USD, depending on the exchange rate. If you have already applied for a marriage license before arriving in Jamaica, you can have your ceremony the next day. You'll need to call the Ministry of National Security for more details. You'll need a birth certificate, passport, and between $50 and $250 to pay your minister. All in all, Jamaica is one of the easier islands in the Cairbbean to get married on.

Best places to get married in the Jamaica

There is no one best place to get married in Jamaica, but here is a short list of some of the most luxurious resorts and hotels in Jamaica. First, check out Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril; Goldeneye Resort in Ocho Rios; the Caves; Moon Dance Cliffs, Sandals Royal Plantation; Sunset on the Cliffs; Half Moon in Montego Bay; Tyrall Club; Scotch on the Rocks, Sandals Royal Caribbean Resorts; Secrets Wild Orchid; Plantation Inn, Secrets St. James, Solis Palmyra Resort and Spa, and the Geejam in Port Antonio.

Some of the other top wedding venues in Jamaica are the Round Hill Hotel, Couples Tower Isle, Tensing Pen Resort, Jake's, Gran Bahia Principe, Riu Palamace, Franklyn D Resort, Jamaica Inn, Iberostar Grand Rose, Breezes, Couples Swept Away, Grand Pineapple Beach, Couples Sans Souci, Couples Negril, Riu Montego Bay, Jewl Dunn's River Beach, Club Hotel Riu Negril, and the Beaches Boscobel. Last, check out the Jamaica Inn, The Ritz Carlton Rose Hall, and the Palmyra.

Be sure to check the venues' rules about bringing in your own wedding photographer to Jamaica, as some of them require you to use their house photographer. This makes little sense, since photography is such a personal decision.

What to do in the Jamaica

One great thing about a Jamaica wedding is that there are many things to do and many activities for your photographer to take pictures of during your wedding weekend. Check out Mayfield Falls, the Blue Hole Mineral Spring, or guided horse trips by Hooves. There are great rain forests to explore, oceans to explore, mountains to climb, and beaches to hang out on. There is something for everyone in Jamaica.

Dreamtime Verdict: Jamaica

We recommend Jamaica for couples looking for a wedding on and island with a strong tourism industry, good infrastructure, and lots of happening night life. Jamaica is easy to get to, isn't far off the beaten path, and has many fantastic hotels and restaurants to cater your wedding in style. If you really want peace and tranquility really far off the beaten path, consider a different island, but for a place that's got it all in one place, Jamaica is hard to beat. And, of course, the reggae influence is just so cool. Ya, mon!
