Gear: What's in our gear bag:
Cameras:
- Canon 5d Digital SLR: This amazing camera is capable of taking 13 megapixel images, which can be blown up to giant posters without much loss of quality.
- Canon 1d Mark II Digital SLR: Another mind-boggling camera, the 1dMkII is great for action shots. It has lightning-fast autofocus abilities and takes 8 images per second. That insures all the precious moments in your wedding won't be missed due to slow shutters.
Lenses:
- Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye: The fisheye lenses produce a unique, rounded view -- great for distorting a particular scene or capturing enormous scenes. It has a 180 degree field of view.
- Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 wide angle zoom: A standard lens for photojournalism, the 16-35 lets us capture everything from head shots to full body shots really close up.
- Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom: Another standard lens for photojournalism. This lets me work a little further back to be as unobtrusive as possible.
- Canon 70-200 f/2.8 telephoto zoom: This lens captures beautiful images thanks to its length. The longer length compresses the distance between close and far subjects, and it also produces beautiful background blur to isolate the subject.
- Canon 50mm f/1.4: This lens has tremendous light-gathering abilities, so it works great for crowded dance halls and dim rooms. It also isolates subjects well.
- Canon 85mm f/1.2: Often known as the perfect portrait lens, the 85 1.2 produces a beautiful background blur like no other lens.
- Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro: Great for tabletop macro shots, wedding rings, flowers and other minute subjects.
- Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom: A very long lens perfect for framing subjects from far away. A long lens provides a wedding photographer with a great tool for capturing emotions and actions without being seen.
Lights:
- Canon 550ex Speedlight: Great on-camera flash. Its light can be bounced off ceilings, and it can also be used off camera. We try as best we can to use our flashes off the camera to eliminate harsh shadows, flat light and red eye.
- Canon 580ex Speedlight: The 550ex's replacement flash.
- White Lightning X1600: We use 3 of this big studio strobes when we want to light up entire rooms with nice, even light.
- Misc umbrellas and light reflectors: These light modifiers reduce shadows and make the light soft, elegant and beautiful.
Misc Gear:
- Pocket Wizards: Pocket Wizards are the ultimate tool for setting off off-camera flashes from long distances.
