Tiffany and Kevin Take The Plunge
I have no idea how this started, but it wound up being epic! Tiffany and Kevin are getting married next July 4, and we shot their engagement session recently. When we first met up, Kevin and I somehow got on the topic of underwater cameras. One thing led to another and pretty soon we organized an early morning engagement session in Wash Park, where they got engaged, followed by a mid-morning stop in an athletic club pool in Cherry Creek. My philosophy is to ask for forgiveness, not permission, when going on random photo missions like this one. And that’s exactly what Kevin and Tiffany’s take was. Right on! So we showed up and hopped in the pool while a bunch of bewildered swimmers looked on. One lady immediately knew what we were up to, and soon came over to congratulate them on ‘taking the plunge.’

Engagement Photos in Estes Park
Allison and Buddy came up to Estes Park recently for their engagement photos, and we had an awesome time wandering around the aspen trees up in Rocky Mountain National Park. I love photographing up there and I have picked out a small grove that I love to go to. I found it a few years ago when my dad was visiting. We went on an afternoon photo safari and wound up a clearing surrounded by aspen trees and a bunch of elk bugling just beyond our view in the forest. It was pretty cool. Anyway, Allison and Buddy were so much fun together and I’m super excited to shoot their wedding next year at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau here in town. Here are some favorites.

Central City and Denver Engagement Photos
Sarah and Mark are getting married next year and we had an awesome time the other day doing their engagement shots. It was a fun afternoon, starting in Estes Park, cruising along Highway 7 to Black Hawk and Central City, going over Oh My God Road down to I-70, and then heading down to Denver. We must have stopped in 20 different places!
Central City is a pretty neat place to shoot — never done it before but I’ve always wanted to. There are all sorts of abandoned buildings and mines, and everything has a real old-town “Colorado” feel. There are all these massive mountains of concrete, which I think the city is doing to prevent erosion from the mining. It seems that when they’ve cut earth out of the side of a mountain, they wind up pouring concrete over the gash to keep landslides from happening. Anyway, makes for interesting photos.
Then we went over Oh My God Road, which is a crazy old mining road connecting Black Hawk to Georgetown, and we stopped at a few cool places including an awesome frisbee golf course that goes through a bunch mining ruins. I’m not much of a frisbee guy, but I’ll have to get back to that course and play it one day.
Anyway, here are a few fun shots from the day. I’m excited to shoot the wedding!

Engagement photography in Vail, Colorado
So I’ve been shooting a lot of e-session lately, the most recent with Caroline and Ty, who are getting married next month at Beano’s Cabin up in Beaver Creek. We decided to head over to the Betty Ford Alpine Garden for their photos, which was a ton of fun. There were some really dramatic storm clouds in the sky, and all the way there it rained on me — but as soon as we started shooting, the weather cleared and we had some good conditions to shoot in. Super excited for the wedding — Caroline and Ty are awesome! Here are some faves from the day.

Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Photos
Jen and Nick are getting married in September up in Wyoming, so we got to do an engagement session recently. They’re awesome! They were high school sweethearts and they’ve got this great vibe between them, which makes them a ton of fun to photograph. We did the whole engagement shoot at Lumpy Ridge, which is up here in Estes Park in Rocky Mountain National Park. Their two boxers, Doyl and Betsy, came along for the adventure, but couldn’t come into the park. Still, we got a few fun shots of their dogs right at the park boundary. I really wanted to bring Toots and have them play together, but that could have been out of control. Here are a few faves from the afternoon. Can’t wait for the wedding!

Bay Area engagement photos
Craziness! I just finished up an epic trip to California, highlighted by a few days of climbing in Yosemite, followed by Amy and Rob’s wedding in Sonoma, followed by Joanna and Jason’s engagement session all over the Bay Area. It was an exhausting but absolutely awesome week.
I think I’ll work backwards here and post shots of Joanna and Jason’s e-session, which was super fun. The morning after I shot the wedding, Joanna and Jason picked me up in a coffee shop in Sonoma and we headed all over the place — it made for a super fun afternoon. First we cruised through the wine country, to some vineyards, fields and an abandoned barn, and later we headed into the city to shoot at Fort Point, throughout San Francisco, and Baker Beach. Joanna and Jason sure know their ABCs (ABC: Always Be Charging) — check out the final few images where they ran through the surf in the frigid water and then laid down in it. That’s what I call commitment!
I’m so excited for their wedding next year in Santa Barbara — it’s going to be beautiful, and Joanna and Jason will be charging for sure.

Engagement photos in Rocky Mountain National Park
I’ve been neglecting my blog lately! Bad bad bad. But today I decided to update things with a short post. I’m in California right now preparing for a week of photo shoots. 14 corporate head shots, 3 magazine assignments and two weddings. Whoah! I flew in the evening of July 4th, so I managed to see fireworks shows from the airplane from Denver all the way to California. The coolest was flying into San Luis Obispo, where I got to see the fireworks exploding above the thick marine layer that had formed over the ocean. It was amazing watching these bursts illuminate the fog below.
Aaaanyway, a few days ago I shot Allison and Ben’s engagement session. We cruised in and out of Rocky Mountain National Park, and along the scenic Highway 7 with their two pups. Came away with some cool stuff. Congrats, you two! I look forward to the wedding!
