Excited for 2007!

December 7th, 2006

Wow! 2007 is shaping up to be a lot of fun! So far, we’ve booked weddings in Colorado — Vail, Estes Park, and Beaver Creek, to name a few places — as well as Santa Barbara, the beachside hamlet of Cayucos, Carmel, and the Bahamas!

The venues are going to be out of this world! The wedding in Cayucos is at the Swallow Creek Ranch, a cool ranch on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. It’s been around since the 1800s and was once a dairy farm, but now it’s turned into a great wedding venue. There’s a cool redwood barn that’s more than 100 years old, and a nice wedding deck overlooking the ocean. I’m super psyched to shoot there, and the couple that’s getting married is really awesome. If you’re interested in a nice, relaxed, scenic venue, check it out: http://www.swallowcreekranch.com.

Then there’s an awesome wedding in the Bahamas that I’m shooting in early April, which promises to be absolutely amazing. The site is the Abaco Club (http://www.theabacoclub.com) on Abaco Island. I’m shooting the entire wedding weekend, from a Thursday afternoon fishing trip to a Friday kayaking and snorkeling jaunt, to a Saturday beach wedding and sunset cruise. The bride and groom are totally mellow, outdoorsy folks, and their wedding party it going to be a blast!

Chateaux at Fox Meadows

One thing that’s super cool about this job is hearing back from clients after you’ve shot their wedding. It’s so rewarding to know they’re totally psyched about their wedding images. When you work at a newspaper, the only people you hear back from are those who are annoyed with you, so it’s refreshing to get enthusiastic emails from people telling you how much they love your work. Here’s a note I got recently that completely made my day.

Nathan:

Thank you so much…the photos are amazing! My friends and family have had nothing but wonderful things about your photography! I am so impressed with the unique shots you took and the clarity of all the photos. You were so wonderful to work with and so talented! As you know I am in the Convention/ Event Planning industry. I have given your information to my friends getting married next year and will refer you to event/meeting planners as well. Thanks again for all our time and hard work…the end result was definitely worth it!!! Have a wonderful week!!!

The bride and groom made an awesome pair and I had a ton of fun shooting their big day. They had a beautiful wedding at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows, a cool ceremony and reception site in Broomfield, Colorado. It’s got these huge vaulted windows and a high ceiling with a nice garden outside — all sorts of potential for great images. Here are a few of my favorite shots from their wedding.
